Taste of Seoul.

My love for Korean food is a recent. The reason for that being . . . I just did not enjoy vegetables. Yes. I hated vegetables and didn't understand why people would eat fresh plants. I'd put a piece of lettuce in my mouth and start gagging on it as if it were poisonous. Although, I eventually got over it after studying abroad and being too ashamed to say "no" to salads that my host mother prepared for me. I guess it is possible to overcome foods that you don't fancy.

Korean food is awesome. And the spicier the better (the redder the better). If I were to make a top 10 list of foods I crave for constantly, Korean dishes would take up at least half the rankings. Here, let me just make that list right now (click the links to see a picture of the food. Warning: you may get hungry):

10. Crêpes. For my sweet tooth. But, they must be from Harajuku.

9. Chijimi(지지미). It's healthy, easy to make and tastes delicious.

8.Ramyon (라면). Spicy ramen is the best.

7.Kimchee (김치). I love cabbage. I love spicy. Kimchee does the trick.

6.Indian curry. Look a few blogs back to see why I like this.

5.Avocados. Especially when dipped with shoyu and wasabi.

4. Sashimi (刺身). The soft texture gets to me all the time. It wouldn't make sense to not like this after working at two sushi restaurants in the past.

3. Bibimbap (비빔밥). The part where you mix it, push it to the inner sides of the bowl and eat the burn areas. Yeah . . . I like dat.

2. Nattou aka fermented stinky beans (納豆). A real acquired taste. You either love it or hate it. Will write an entry about this one day. :3

1. Karekare aka Peanut Butter soup. Especially, when cooked by my father. I strongly believe that he makes the best karekare in the world. And I'm not just saying that because he's my dad.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm salivating like crazy right now. lol

Anyhoo, as you can see, bibimbap is my ultimate favorite Korean food. This goes without saying that I ate it more than once during my trip. I ate it three times, in fact. In only two nights!

Friday night.

Saturday morning. Yes, morning.

Sunday afternoon.

I never tire of the taste. I don't know what it is that makes it such a special dish to me. I mean, it's just a bowl of rice, various vegetables and beef mixed with hot koji jang sauce. You technically prepare the food by yourself.

Hmm . . .

It's gotta be the mixing part that I enjoy. I have this strange satisfaction with mixing and experimenting with different foods. I even have my own nattou recipe series that I will definitely blog about in the near future. Also, there's okonomiyaki(Japanese pizza. A Japanese version of chichimi) where you mix your own batter and fry it on the pan yourself. Perhaps I love the whole presentation of bibimbap; how it looks delicious before and even after you mix everything together. Mmmmm mashisoyo!

This blog is getting long and I promised myself to always write brief, short and sweet entries. Will blog later!

I have only tried Kimchee and Sashimi both are very tasty!

However unfortunately the Korean restaurant is very far from where I live, would love to make some Kimchee at home.

Oh really? They are super good :3 You can make kimchee at home but there's one ingredient that's hard to find unless you have a Korean supermarket nearby. ><
