Taste of France: Galettes
Bonjour~!
Today was a relatively gloomy day thanks to grey skies and afternoon showers. Nevertheless, I managed to brighten up my mood with some good eats.
Dropped by Akasaka Sacas during my lunch break today with my boss's wife. I ADORE Sacas because the architecture always reminds me of Europe (although, I've never been there *crosses fingers*) with all the little boutiques and outdoor cafes.
She asked me if I've ever had galette before and I haven't. To be honest, I've never heard of galette. I can't turn down an opportunity to try something new so we decided to eat at BREIZH Cafe CREPERIE which is a cafe specialized in making galette.
So, galettes are basically buckwheat flour based crepes that fold and wrap around various combinations of ingredients such as eggs&raw ham, zuccini&sausage, and also there are the dessert galettes with fruits and whipped cream. And I'm guessing they're from France because the menu was both in French and Japanese.
I ordered the lunch set which came with fresh salad, soup de jour (soup of the day), your choice of coffee or tea, your choice of galette and choice of dessert crepe. Fatty...I know. The galette I chose was the egg& raw ham. The taste was surprisingly really light and I was left with no regrets. I love my low calorie buckwheat :3
I chose the kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup) & green tea ice cream crepe. I may have felt a little regretful eating this though. Whatever. I deserve my sweets from time to time. :P
I apologize that my pictures aren't "professional". You can find a lot of delicious pictures here: http://r.tabelog.com/tokyo/A1308/A130801/13047567/dtlphotolst/1/
Anyone visiting Tokyo, do check this place out. It's a great place to spend time leisurely while enjoying your fancy French "pancakes" and fresh coffee.
